Our main ingredient is plants, meaning I need a plant bed! I started off by constructing a 4.5x2.5 ft. plant bed.
With time and patience, our flowers reached full potential at 85 days!
I extract dye from these flowers right here in my kitchen! Even though these dyes are plant based, it’s still not safe to reuse the same pots for cooking.
Here I have my HUGE collection of fabrics, but just like synthetic dyes, not all fabric is environmentally friendly. For my project, I’m gonna be using Organic cotton.
Vinegar or Citric Acid is used mordanting the fabric and helping the dye adhere to the fabric. Approximately 1 cup of vinegar or 1 tablespoon of citric acid per gallon of water.
